KENTUCKY WILL BOOKS The preface of each will book provides a history of the county formation, indicating parent and progeny counties. The address for each county courthouse is included. The every name index includes all names within the will book, not just the names of the testators. The abstracts of the wills, estates, inventories, sales, etc. found in these volumes are from microfilm copies of the books as found in the clerk's office. Each book contains notes found in the documents which add to the value of the book as a genealogical research tool. Example: a will of Arthur Fox mentions a pregnant wife, Mary, and "Military Lands on the Northwest side of the Ohio River." An inventory for John Stevens lists the ages of his slaves and much more. A review in the Federation of Genealogical Societies Forum, Volume 11, Number 4, Winter 1999 for the Mason County, Kentucky, Wills and Estates, 1971-1832 states "This is a valuable abstraction for anyone seeking early Kentucky ancestors." This is an ongoing series of Kentucky records.
